Southern Futurity Amateur Results

It was a chilly day here in Jackson, MS as the Amateurs finished off the Southern Cutting Futurity! The day of finals started off with the Derby Unlimited Amateur with Lica Pinkston continuing her great year riding Stylish Top Brow (High Brow CD x Stylish Top Girl). They marked a 219 to collect a $4,500 check along with the $921.20 Senior Champion’s check and the $1,783.60 Gelding Division Champion’s check! It was a great day for this duo and Lica is so thankful for her consistency this year riding this special little gelding.

Next to go was the Derby $50,000 Amateur finals where Amy Roberts showed her new mare Timeless Metallic (Metallic Cat) having a fantastic run! They marked a 219 for the win! They took home a $2,500 check along with the Senior Divison Champion’s check amounting to $823.20.  Amy was all smiles after her run. She and “Betty” are sure to be in the spotlight many more times in the future!

Champion of the Gelding Division of the Derby $50,000 Amateur was Heza Kadee Cat ridden by Kenneth Warner. These two have been on top all week leading the rounds as they made their way to the finals!

In the Classic Unlimited Amateur finals Buster Quirk rode Under The Reydar (Halreycious x Twice As Reycy) to a 219.5 for the win! Buster is always very involved in the sport along with his son Todd Quirk and daughter in law Elizabeth Quirk. He collected a $4,500 check for the win along with a $1,920.80 check for the Gelding Division Championship.

Rick French riding Adreyalynn Rush (CD Royal x Trouble Lynn 495) along with Hilary Watson riding Shady Lil CD (High Brow CD x Shady Aristocrat) marked a 215 to finish as the Senior Champions of the Classic Unlimited Amateur.  They each recieved a $1,131.90 check.

In the Classic $50,000 Amateur Katherine Vanboekel finished her stellar year with a win!  She rode Sweet EE Motion (Cat Ichi x Mimi Floyd) to a solid 217.5 to claim the $2,000 Champion's check.  It was a bitter sweet show for Katherine as it could be the last for this dynamic duo.  We have enjoyed watching them throughout their aged event career and always knew the cutting was not over until they stepped to the herd, they were definately always there to win!

The Senior Champion in the Classic $50,000 Amateur was Tom Watson riding Shady Lil CD (High Brow CD x Shady Lil Aristocrat).  They took home a $705.60 check!
