That's a Wrap In Waco








Bella Anderson was the High Money earning Amateur at the 2017 Waco Texas Futurity and took home the Jeff Smith Saddle presented by show producer Raymond Shumate.

The 2017 Waco Texas Futurity marked the end of the show season for many and was a huge success! As always the Non Pro and Amateur riders enjoyed the final days of the show and we witnessed some exciting runs!

In the Futurity Non Pro it was Denise Bendele riding Rockin Cats that finished on top after the two rounds. The pair had a 417 cumulative score that was good enough to take home the $2,585.63 Champion’s check!

Reserve Champion was Heston Henning riding Stylish Jac with a 414.5 cumulative score, which was good enough to collect the $1,723.75 Reserve Champion’s check.

In the Derby Non Pro Jodie Cerny was the Champion riding her great mare E Laine (Thomas E Hughes) marking a 219! They claimed the $3,800 Champion’s check to go along with the exceptional week both Jodie and her husband Clay have had.

The Reserve Champion of the Derby Non Pro was Tammy Jones riding Metallic Ina (Metallic Cat) marking a 216 to take home the $3,300 check.

The Limited Derby Non Pro Champion was Traci Burgess riding My Starlight Tassa marking a 213. She collected a $984.30 check to go along with her $2,300 third place check in the finals.

Jodie Cerny’s day continued to be a huge success as she was also the Champion of the Classic Non Pro riding Mare E Hughes (Thomas E Hughes)! They marked a 220 to increase their total earnings for the day by $3,500. Jodie is always fun to watch and her mares equally so. Big congratulations to her for such an amazing day!

Reserve Champion was Ryder Carpenter riding Shorta CD (High Brow CD) marking a 214 to take home a $3,100 check.

The Limited Classic Non Pro Champion was Monte Strusiner riding Third Rey (Third Cutting x Rey Lady Rey). They collected a $1,722.52 check to go along with their $1,509.03 finalist check. Monte was also the High Money Earning Non Pro Rider for the show winning him the Non Pro Jeff Smith trophy saddle.

First to go in the Amateur Divisions was the Derby Unlimited Amateur. Christy Erickson was first out in the finals riding Reys Karma (Dual Rey). They marked a 218 for the win and the $2,000 check.

Reserve Champion was Bella Anderson riding Uno Mas (Dual Rey x Uno Tassa Mia) marking a 217. They claimed a $1,800 check. Bella was also a finalist riding Jackie A (Cats Quxiote Jack x Hot N Smart). It is always a big accomplishment to get two horses into a finals!

The Derby Unlimited Amateur Senior Champion was Richard Rothwell riding Metallic Baby Doll (Metallic Cat x Sans Arc Doll) collecting a $1,371 check.

The second Amateur class to go was the Classic Unlimited Amateur, which was also topped by the first rider out in the finals. It was Jane Mancuso riding CR Missnjethro Woody (Woody Be Tuff X CR Miss N Cats Meow) marking a 222! They added another $1,300 to their substantial career earnings. Jane was also the Senior Champion, which added a $1,383.49 check to their total for the day.

Reserve Champion was Barbi Madgwick riding her new mare Halreyzn Swinger (Halreycious X One Smart Swinger) marking a 216 claiming the $1,200 Reserve Champion’s check.

Bella Anderson decided that Reserve Champion just was not enough and came back to claim a win in the Derby Amateur aboard Jackie A (Cats Quxiote Jack x Hot N Smart) marking a 224! The pair was the third Champion of the day to win out of the first slot. They collected a $1,100 check for their win. Bella was also a finalist riding Uno Mas (Dual Rey x Uno Tassa Mia) and Reyl Purdy!

Reserve Champion was Emily Coffeen riding I Wont Quit Smokin (Dual R Smokin x Shes Stylin) marking a 215 that was good enough to claim the $1,065.13 Reserve Champion’s check.

Last but not least was the Classic Amateur. Jane Mancuso came out victorious from the first hole draw as well making it four for four! This was also Jane’s second Championship for the day riding CR Missnjethro Woody (Woody Be Tuff x CR Miss N Cats Meow) marking a 220. They took home a $1,400 check for their efforts.
