Amateur Competitors Round Out the Ike Derby and Classic

It was a great week at the 2018 Ike Derby and Classic in West Monroe, LA. We have more Champions in the books and memories to keep everyone going to the next cutting. The Amateur competitors finished out the show as they often do giving us our final champions for the week. Today these Champions all had one thing in common other than the results. They were all in the first hole draw proving it to be the “Money Spot” for the day!

Classic $50,000 Amateur

The Classic $50,000 Amateur Champion was Michael Armstrong riding Red Hot Metal (Metallic Cat x Spots Hot Shot) marking a 220 and winning $1,669.76! They also won the Senior Division adding another $1,254.40 to their earnings. These titles also pushed the gelding to nearly $50,000 in lifetime earnings. This is an extra special accomplishment as he underwent surgery for a broken elbow as a two-year-old. It was obviously meant to be for this duo and we are sure to see much more from them.
