A Great Day for Team Francois!

Holly Francois was all smiles after her first win in the Will Rogers Arena - CHC photos

The 2017 Lucas Oil NCHA Super Stakes has been full of first time winners in the Will Rogers! It was Holly Francois’ first win on the “big stage” last night in the Super Stakes Limited Non Pro Finals. She and her new gelding Smart Dual Kat (Dual Smart Rey x Puddy Kat) marked a solid 217.5 to safely secure the title, late in the one set of finals. They took home a hefty $11,305 check along with the long list of prizes!

Holly really did not know what to expect from “Lewis” during his first show as her horse. She just hoped that they got along and wanted to present him with good opportunities throughout the show. The pair fit perfectly, and Lewis was outstanding! Holly has been so thrilled and surprised with him at the same time. Her husband and trainer, Lee Francois, and daughter, Sydney Roland, were a little less surprised, as they knew this team would be awesome! Lewis has been in Lee’s program since long time customer Richard Carney purchased him from Wes Ashlock as a two year old. Holly could not say enough about the great job Wes did in creating Lewis’ strong foundation that made him feel so solid for her. These wins feel all the more special when considering the effort that goes into preparing and the countless variables a rider must take into account.

The whole family celebrated a perfect day following Holly’s win after Lee claimed a spot in the Open Finals on Desires Time (One Time Pepto x Reys Desire) a few sets earlier. The success of Lee and the special little mare “Cookie,” meant more to Holly than her own success. Lee doing well just made her appearance in the finals icing on the cake! It is not over for this team as she is first out in the Super Stakes Non Pro Finals this evening! Be sure to watch this dynamic duo start out this exciting event!

Reserve Champion was Becky Galyean riding Smooth Little Linda (Smooth As A Cat x TF Smartlittle Linda) marking a 215 and taking home a $10,488 check. This added onto the already very successful show for the entire Galyean family!

Congratulations to the entire group of finalists, and we are looking forward to the action tonight beginning a 2:00 pm with the Derby Non Pro Finals followed by the Derby Open Finals. Good Luck to all involved from everyone here at Cutting Horse Central!
