The 2017 NCHA Summer Spectacular Kicksoff!

The 2017 NCHA Summer Spectacular gets underway today with the Classic Challenge Open first go round for all the five and six year old horses. This year's show will run for twenty one days ending with the Non Pro and Open Derby Finals on August 6th. The Summer Spectacular is the third jewel in the NCHA Triple Crown show schedule and is always special because it will also be the last time the six year old horses will compete in this arena in the Aged Event division. It is bitter sweet and we go into this show with high hopes for all of the horses in this position. It seems to go by so fast for these special horses we definitely have to take it all in as they this stage comes to a close.

The Summer Spectacular has a different vibe to it for several reasons. One of the big attractions each year include a full slate of NYCHA Youth events starting with the Switch House Ranch Youth Scholarship cutting on July 25. The Top 15 Junior & Senior kids will also compete in the NYCHA World Finals sponsored by High Brow CD which is always fun to watch.

Along with all of the fun filled events planned for the kids CHC will host another Youth Clinic on July 24 within our CHC Cutting Club! Youth will get the chance to work with both Hall of Fame Open and Non Pro cutters to better their skills in the show pen, as well as gaining knowledge about the judging aspect of the sport.

The Youth World Finalists will draw their final round during a special "Draw Party" at Cowgirl Hall Of Fame on July 27th and The Bellamy Brothers will be performing on July 28 in the Will Rogers Auditorium. Special VIP seating packages are available for the concert including lots of extras and you can contact Jody McGlothlin for more information @PH: 901-634-5090 The Youth activities will conclude on July 29th with Talent Show followed by the Banquet and Auction Gala with proceeds raised going to both Cook Children's Hostpital as well as the Horseman For Christ Youth Cutting Camp.

Another event benefitting the NYCHA at this year's show includes the Justin Insurance CHC Roping on August 1st at 5pm in the Outdoor Covered Pavillion at Will Rogers. It was such a big hit last year and raised a considerable amount of money for the NCHA Foundation that was later utilized by the NYCHA to provide a number of leadership opportunities for many of the acting youth officers. There will be even more fun things added to the roping this year to make it an evening no one will want to miss! Bring the kids to enjoy the "Smart Little Lena Kids Playgound" set up right next to the arena with a mechanical bull, bounce houses and much more.

NCHA will be hosting the summer cutting concert event "Cowtown Cuts Loose" featuring Hunter Hutchinson on Saturday, August 5 at the Will Rogers Equestrian Center and is also sure to be lots of fun for all the cutters.

As always Cutting Horse Central will be keeping everyone updated on the day-to-day goings on at the Summer Spectacular including all the results as they happen. We cannot wait to see everyone and and hope you'll join us at the Will Rogers for lots of great cutting action. Good luck to everyone!
