The next cutting of the calendar year has begun continuing the winter run and all of the excitement. It was Tatum Rice and his standout stallion Hashtags (Metallic Cat x Dual Rey Tag), owned by Hashtags Ventures, that claimed the Championship of the Classic Open at the Bonanza marking a 223! "Tag" has had a very busy but successful year thus far being a finalist at the Abilene Spectacular in the Classic Open, Reserve Champion of the Classic Open at the Augusta Futurity, and now taking home his first Championship for 2018. This win added another $20,869.88 to the stallion's already impressive $255,238.78 in NCHA lifetime earnings. He and Tatum will head to Vegas next for the Mane Event this coming week while still taking on a full book of mares in his first year standing at Brazos Valley Stallion Station. He shows no signs of slowing down looking as sharp at ever last night in the tough field of finalists!

Reserve Champion was Michael Cooper on Rose Valley Ranch's consistent mare, Cattys Hope (Catty Hawk x Tornados Rey of Hope) marking a 222 in the second set of finalists. Michael and "Faith" have shined in this pen already in the five-year-old mare's show career being Co-Champions at the Brazos Bash in 2017 which was also held at Silverado on the Brazos. The team brought home $16,695.90 in earnings for Rose Valley Ranch!

The Gelding Champion of the Classic Open was Under The Reydar (Halreycious x Twice As Reycy), owned by Plantation Farms and ridden by Adan Banuelos marking a 221.5 in the finals. They added this title to their already third place finish and $14,608.91 in prize money! Adan also rode the Novice Division Champion, My Stylish Babe (Lizzys Gotta Player x Stylish Sharron) owned by Tim and Melissa Drummond.

The Limited Open Champion in the Classic Open was Justin Chalmers riding HC Herdboss (Herding Cats x Chinosa Rey), owned by Eddie and Barbra Young. This win added another Limited Championship to the young trainer's record!



The Open competition continues at the Bonanza with the Derby Open second go round. Congratulations to all of the finalists in the Classic Open and good luck to everyone throughout the rest of the week from everyone here at Cutting Horse Central!
