World's Greatest Prelims Underway in Fort Worth

DT Horses World's Greatest Horseman Preliminaries Begin The DT Horses World's Greatest Horseman Preliminaries kicked off Sunday, February 11, with 50 horses - a record number of entries for this event - walking to the herd in the historic Will Rogers Coliseum.

World's Greatest Horseman competitors show in four demanding preliminary events: herd work, rein work, steer stopping and fence work. The top 10 composite scores advance to the clean-slate finals on Saturday, February 17, where they perform all four events again in the quest for the coveted title.

The high score in the herd work preliminaries came late in the last set when Call Me Mitch (Metallic Cat x Miss Hickory Hill x Doc's Hickory), shown by NRCHA Professional Phillip Ralls of Paso Robles, California, cut three cows with smooth finesse and control, scoring a 223. Call Me Mitch, a 2011 stallion owned by Estelle Roitblat, is the highest-earning reined cow horse offspring of NRCHA Million Dollar Sire Metallic Cat.
