Record Setting Night in Idaho!
Author: Lauren Middleton
Last night was a night of big scores and exciting runs at the Idaho Futurity! The riders pulled out all of the stops and it seemed that the horses were even brighter in front of the crowd. It made for a recorded setting night!
$50,000 Amateur Any Age Finals
The first finals to go for the evening was the $50,000 any age Amateur Finals! It was David Harp riding Kausac Kat (Smooth As A Cat x Lenas Tangygirl) that finished on top marking a 221! They collected a $2,564 check for the win and one very special memory to take home from Idaho. Last year David’s wife, Carol Ward, left Idaho with a Non-Pro Mercuria win making it pretty fun for the couple to leave with a win again this year!

Reserve Champion was David Whitaker riding Cartier Time (One Time Pepto x CD Bright Lights) marking a 216 to receive the $2,298 Reserve Champion’s check. It was a pretty big pay day for all of the Amateur Finalists!
Non Pro Mercuria Finals
In the Non-Pro Mercuria Finals Constance Jaeggi marked a hug 231 aboard her amazing mare Ichis My Choice (Cat Ichi x My Little Abra) to add another $10,914.40 to the Hall Of Fame mare’s earnings! “Abba” has been nothing short of a blessing for this family being a past NCHA Horse of the Year as well. She has earned her place in everyone’s hearts to say the least and has taken both Constance and trainer, Grant Setnicka, on some pretty exceptional rides. This win boosts Contance substantially in the Non-Pro World Standings.

Reserve Champion was Elizabeth Quirk riding Cat Sheree (High Brow CD x Nurse Sheree). They started out the finals marking a 225 setting the bar high for the rest of the finalists! This added $8,610.80 to their Non-Pro earnings for the year increasing their lead as they currently hold the first-place position in the Non-Pro World Standings!
Open Mercuria Finals
The Open Mercuria Finals topped off the evening with some of the very best horses in the business! Tatum Rice and Hashtags (Metallic Cat x Dual Rey Tag) started off the set wowing the crowd as they often do. The duo marked an unbelievable 233 to claim the win! This added another $10,178.40 to their lead in the Open World Standings. There is something to be said about marking a 233, we rarely see them, but to mark a 233 first out in a finals that shows just how impressed the judges were by this electrifying run. It is one we are sure the audience last night will never forget and Tatum as well being his personal best sore of his career thus far!

Reserve Champion was Morgan Cromer and Stylish Look Bella (Dual Smart Rey x Stylishious), owned by Marvin and Paulette Teixeira, marking a 222 last out in the finals. They took home a $8,058.80 check along with their title boosting them considerably in the Open Standings. Morgan and the unique mare are on a roll as well in Mercuria Events, as they topped the Mercuria Open event back in February at the Mane Event held in Las Vegas!
As always, the Mercuria World Series of Cutting finals in Idaho are one of the most fun of the year! Everyone involved goes above and beyond to make it extra special for competitors and spectators alike. Congratulations to all of the Champions and finalists from all of us here at Cutting Horse Central. The next stop in the Series will be at the El Rancho Futurity in a couple of weeks!
