First Waco Futurity Champions Crowned

It’s hard enough to clinch a big Futurity win, but to claim two in just a few weeks’ time is even more impressive!
Phil Hanson and Sweet Lil Prime Time
Hot off their Championship at the PCCHA Futurity in Vegas, Phil Hanson and Sweet Lil Prime Time (Sweet Lil Pepto x Prime Time Cat) put together another great run in the Waco Texas Futurity Open to claim the Championship.
The team marked a solid 222 to claim $4,750 for owners Jerry and Vickie Durant.
The Futurity Limited Open Championship was awarded to Joey Kinser and A Little Bossier (CD Lights x Pistol Smart), owned by Mica Chartier, after marking a 215. The title was worth $2,120.

Chris Bates and Its Mr Big Time To U (One Time Pepto x Classified Dualin), owned by GCH Land & Cattle LLC, earned the Futurity Open Gelding Championship, worth $1,230.
Early Mornin Shakes and Chris Bates
Early Mornin Shakes (Hottish x Boudica Jewel), owned by GCH Land & Cattle LLC, and Chris Bates took home $1,593 for clinching the Futurity Open Homegrown title.
RN Creepy Cat (High Brow Cat x Starlights Viper), owned by Rick Beard, carried Clay Johnson to a 221.5 for the Derby Open Championship and $4,000!

The team also earned a Derby Limited Open Championship for an additional $2,461!
Hey Thomas (Thomas E Hughes x Some Kinda Twister), owned by Louis and Judy Gutierrez, put together a 215 with Jon Burgess for the Gelding Championship and $1,928.
Chris Hanson had quite the performance in the Classic Open in Waco when he clinched the top three spots in the main division and the Gelding Championship!
The top placing went to Hes A Smart Guy (My Guy Rey x Roses To Rubies), owned by Charles Burger, who carried Chris to a 226 for $4,750 and the big Championship. The team also earned the Gelding Championship and an additional $1,969.
Chris piloted Too Hot To Copy (Metallic Cat x Playgiarism), owned by Nachos Quarter Horses LLC., to the Reserve Championship by marking a 225. The pair picked up $4,000 for their efforts.

With all of Chris’ success, he became the highest money-earning Open rider at the event with a total of $16,844 earned. That allowed him to take home a special trophy saddle awarded to the trainer with the highest total money won in the Open division.
