Waco Texas Futurity Wraps Up

The past week at the Waco Texas Futurity has been packed with action, and competitors really had to step it up if they wanted to come out with a Championship. The last two days of the event had Non-Pro and Amateur riders in the spotlight, and the competition was hot!
Futurity classes tend to bring a special excitement, because people start to see the first glimpses of how their horses will perform in the show pen.
In the Non-Pro Futurity, Hott Pockets (Hottish x Smart Plan On Guard) proved to Jessica Pierce she was one with a bright future when she carried her to a cumulative 431(215/216) to take home the main Championship and the Limited Championship for a total of $3,570.

Parke Greeson and Ima Purdy Cool Cat took home the main Reserve Championship and Limited Reserve title after marking a 414 (205/209) to collect a total of $2,380.
In the Non-Pro Derby, Sly Pepto Girl (One Time Pepto x Sly Playgirl) proved to Dustin Adams she was a force to be reckoned with when she carried him to a big 220!

Those impressive marks held up for the Championship, and the team took home $3,600 for their efforts.
Jessica Pounds was not far behind on Etch N Sketch (Kit Kat Sugar x Reychell Rey) when they marked a 219, which earned them the Reserve Championship and $3,100. The pair also took home an additional $984 for picking up the Gelding Championship.
Bridey Greeson and CR Smart Boots (Boon Too Suen x CR Smart Lil Kitty) earned the Non-Pro Derby Limited Championship and $1,723.
When there is a talented group of teams in a finals, there are bound to be some close finishes.
In the Non-Pro Classic, that proved to be true when a 219 was marked by Steve Anderson with Littlemak (Starlights Gypsy x Justa Swinging Gal) and Jodie Cerny with E Laine (Thomas E Hughes x Short On Sass).
Both pairs shared Co-Champion honors, which were worth $3,300!
Steve and Littlemak also took home the Gelding Championship and an additional $1,542. After collecting another paycheck in the Non-Pro Derby division, Steve became the highest-earning Non-Pro rider at the event with $7,906 total earned. He was awarded with a beautiful Jeff Smith saddle for his efforts which was sponsored by Bar RR Ranches.

Duff Sinclair and Chance To Cat (High Brow Cat x Bobs Smart Chance) marked a 216 for the Non-Pro Classic Limited Championship, worth $1,723.
Unlimited Amateur Derby
Jody Radomske had an impressive outing with One Little Royalty (One Time Royalty x Hicks Little Diamond) at the Waco Texas Futurity!

The pair put together a solid 216 in the Unlimited Amateur Derby to take home the Championship! The title was worth $2,000.
Jacob Wayne Little and Bet Hes Amazing (Bet Hesa Cat x Queen Of Peptos) were not far behind with their 214.5. Their marks held up for the Reserve Championship, and they garnered $1,800.
Unlimited Amateur Classic
Duff Sinclair kept the success in Waco going in the Unlimited Amateur Classic division! He marked a respectable 218 aboard Goodlookinsonofaich (Cat Ichi x Sheza Skeeto Rey) to claim the Championship.
The title was worth $2,000, so the team went home with full pockets!
Will Bushaw and Velvets Revolver (WR This Cats Smart x Velvets Best Shot) earned a 217.5 to pick up the Reserve Championship and $1,800.
Gail Hooper and This Cats Sweet (WR This Cats Smart x Remedy For Sweets were awarded the Senior Championship after earning a 214.
Kimberly Hol Howard and Cashanova Cat (Cat A Rey x Cash Moria) were the big winners in the $50,000 Amateur Futurity with their cumulative 423 (212/211).
The pair took home $1,779 for their solid performance at the event.
Parke Greeson and Ima Purdy Cool Cat added another Reserve Championship to their list of accomplishments when they marked a 395 (210/185). They garnered $1,186 for their efforts.
Jane Mancuso put together a solid run on Metalic Pistol (Metallic Cat x Silver Pepto Pistol) and were awarded with a 216 from the judges.

Those marks held up for the Amateur Derby Championship, and the pair took home $1,900 for the title.
Rick Beard and RN Creepy Cat (High Brow Cat x Starlights Viper) marked a 215 to clinch the Reserve Championship, worth $1,500.
They say when you want something, you should not leave anything to chance. Charlene Lane did just that on Bobs Smart Badger (Reys Dual Badger x Bobs Smart Chance) when they marked a 215 in the Amateur Classic.

Those marks allowed them to top the division by a big 5-point margin, and they collected $1,500 for their success.
Rick Reeves and Bunnys Passion (Cats Merada x Lenas Stylish Bunny) took home the Reserve Championship and $1,200 after marking a 210.
