Gearing Up for the Open Semis & Limited Finals

There is always plenty of anticipation ramping up for the NCHA Futurity every year, and already, some phenomenal horses are proving what all of the hype is about.

During the first go of the Open, Fracker Brown (Smooth As A Cat x Jitters Brown) wowed everyone with Chris Johnsrud when they laid down a 223 to top the round!

Chris and Fracker Brown, owned by Schmitz & Brown, posted a 217 on Wednesday for a composite total of 440 to take the lead after the second round going into the semifinals.

The second go high score winners were Royal Red Brow (High Brow Cat x Tootsie Rey), ridden by Kenny Platt, and Warlock, ridden by Beau Galyean, who both marked a 220 on the second day of the Open 2nd go-round. Warlock is out of Sweet Abra and by Metallic Cat, who has 19 offspring advancing to the Open semifinals!

Royal Red Brow is owned by Center Ranch and Warlock is owned by Fults Ranch LTD, and we are looking forward to seeing how they will do during the rest of the event!

Greg Wright and Reycan In The Cash (Dual Rey x Cancan Kitty), owned by Eric Freitas, are heading the Limited Open with their 437 (218/219)!

The bubble to advance to the Open semifinals on Dec. 8 is a 432.5, and eligible teams with a 430 or higher will move on to the Limited Open finals on Nov. 28!
